After a recent purchase I had the other week.Of which was a 1962-63 Viceroy and Ambassador bases.

Since that I have been trying to work out where the dickens I could get a viceroy engine from.Even contacting the old owner Kye all to no avail. Then after talking to Kye it dawned on me.I already had an engine that I took of an old wreck which wasn't worth saving.
So then I end up with this.

I know I know there is a terrible huge amount of work to be done to make it an awesome mower, but considering how rare these guys are it will be well worth it.Still have to sauce a few parts like air cleaner and the right muffler. Also maybe a starter as I just don't know how good the one that is on it is.It seems rough, and I do have a lot of metal work to be done.It also seems I will need some strange clips and springs to make the handles work again, but other than that I have one and it will be awesome.

Glad you found an engine!

The handles on it went to scrap, they had been welded straight, no use at all.

My plan was to redo the viceroy but just before the Laidley swap meet where I sold it I reached a point where I couldn't walk across my veranda because of all the mowers eek
I sold all my 125 and 160cc Victa engines to a member of my page for his mini-bikes, I scrapped any parts or mowers that were un-fixable and most got sold at Laidley. Since then my amount of mowers has gone back up but there all some what important or rare.
I took the engine off the Viceroy for the bloke with the mini-bikes, if I didn't it would have gone to scrap, the cowl went to a member of my page.

Hopefully these both come up well, I will keep an eye out for more parts.

I'm not 100% sure either. It does have the right amount of teeth.Does anyone know if this cup will fit on a Victa? I'd say yes as I think they were a universal cup but I could be wrong.

Hello Kye and Blumby

I'm not sure either.
But, best guess, it will suit the earlier Impulse starters.
In other words, the fine drum should be fine.

I think it was originally off a Victa, it was on a 1957 Rover and was only used to replace a pulley that was missing from the Simplex engine.

Hi Kye
It does not really matter what make ... as many mower manufacturers used the
Tecumseh starter design.

The fine starter drums should fit all non-trip-release Impulse starters, as
per the photos supplied here.

Cheers

Just message through your address Blumbly, I will post it to you, if it works it works, if it doesn't then it cost you nothing.
I just noticed the throttle control piece for a Kirby still has the price tag I put on it at Blackbutt lol!! Is it still $2?
