My mate gave me this Masport with a Tecumseh 50 4 stroke engine, as he is too busy with his motorbikes to fiddle with mowers in his spare time, even his wife has to mow the lawn..............

Drained the carby bowl, a little rust water.. then started it for 5 seconds, so took carby bowl off and blew petrol and compressed through the holes and main jet. Put a new gasket on the bowl and a throttle cable, sharpened the blades and mowed my lawn......a bit of Moreys oil stabilizer in the sump....
Plenty of power and no wobble in the wheels, only some rust under the paint, from the Bundy weather...... it a keeper for me.... now I have 4 mowers, chooses which one to mow the lawn with.....
cheers
Speedy

Thanks for advice freebird.
I put a bit of Moreys oil stabiliser in....I think it helped.
I mowed a friends lawn today with it, then 80% though the job I noticed oil running down side of mower base, maybe from valve cover, but not that......
I told my friend stripes may appear on her lawn later in the week, but she didn't care.
Filled the oil and mowed my lawn, it didn't leak, but I didn't run it at full throttle like on my friends lawn .
Anyway it looks like it is OK.... for some more small jobs....
I'll upload a pic of the lawn.........

When I run it flatout for a while it starts leaking oil. I think it maybe the join in the engine. I have cleaned the bottom and wit tighten the bolts. And maybe put silicon over the join....
Got to make a fix....
It has 5 strong horses inside , but you can't sell a mower that leaks oil like this..

I'm afraid Silicone on the outside won't help, it will just wash off. I stopped a crankcase leak on an old Enfield 700 a few years ago by going around the join with a hacksaw blade and gouged a small track around it and then filled the track with JB Weld not sure if it is worth the effort on this mower

That's the best solution.
If it's blown the sump gasket, you'd have to strip it down, and cut the new gasket as well - just not worthwhile.
