Do you get. Kickback on a full crank or is that only a PT problem. I have a good side pull here now. I don't remember any kickback on the original side pull. That type of starter might be less likely to kick back as the pinion should not be engaged.

Looks like it's a PT issue only. Just that type of starter. I think I have had normal PTs do it as well just not quite as violent. Mine is not too bad Maybe wear a leather glove if it's flooded. I am more worried about wrecking the starter. PT starters are easy to get thank Goodness.
