Hi all,
Latest acquisition, a Tampico Falcon. Won't tell you how much I paid for it, don't want people bursting into tears. Question is, just get it running and sell unrestored, do a full restoration and sell, sell as is, or part it out? What do you think guys? I understand these little guys are pretty rare.

Fantastic Find, can you get me close up photos of the pulley set up
on the top of the motor?

Paul

Never restore anything like this and expect to get anything four your effort, if you have no interest in restoring it and keeping it then ebay it but remember they will steal 10% of the sale price from your account. Otherwise Gumtree it but you will need to guess a figure you think it might be worth.
Paul bit hard to see how they got a belt up to that top pulley, unless it is driven by a vertical shaft from down below

Hi Paul,
there is another thread with one of these, just search Tampico Falcon and it will come up with heaps of pictures. The pulley is an idler pulley under what appears to be a dog clutch to engage the PTO operated by the left hand foot pedal but at the moment it is all seized up. The belt from that then goes to the large pulley which is forward of the motor which is actually an idler pulley with another on top to allow the beastie to steer. The second part of that pulley runs a right angle drive directly above the front wheel which then drives a chain and sprocket set up to drive the front wheel.
I will be pulling it down to unseize everything and then make a decision about what happens next. I have plenty of similar B&S motors around with the vertical pull start to get the engine running again, biggest problem I think will be finding a decent seat or repairing the one that is on it, fibre glass matted over steel brackets. I'll post detail picks during the pull down.

can use 3.5 & 4hp vertical pull B&S motors..
the pedal on mine moves the motor & deck to tension the belt for drive.

No, it's a Canon SLR with their superb little 50mm F1.4 macro lens and Canon Speedlite 580EX flash. I hope to pull that main pulley today and will give you all the measurements in case you decide to get one turned up. Should be a fairly easy job for anyone with a lathe to knock out.

Progress on the engine, got it back together and fired up today. Now need some 3/8" x 3/16" chain to replace the rusty old one on the front drive wheel and it should be rideable. All the tyres inflated just fine and hold air so that's one less expense.
Before; note the fuel cap is the one that I restored in the tech tips section a few days back.
