Morning all.
Am in the process of removing the dead 12HP from my Kingcat tip find and am wanting to know about removing the pulleys. The small drive pulley came off easy with a puller but is the big top pulley on a key way or threaded to the shaft as it doesn't want to move? It has a small plate on the underside of the pulley held by three bolts but it doesn't appear to do anything and there doesn't appear to be any key in the slot that is above that. Engine numbers are 281717 0156-01 871125. If it is unscrew, how is the best way to do that? All help greatly appreciated.

G'day Trev,

It's not very likely that it will be screwed on, as that would require a custom crankshaft.

Does the pulley look to be 2-piece? The reason I ask is that one of the Puma 1100 parts lists mentions a 'Biloc pulley'.
And these have a retainer plate held by three bolts.

If it is this type, it will have a split aluminium centre bush and cast-iron outer. A how-to download that covers fitting and removal is HERE.

Cheers,
Gadge

Yes Gadge, it has a split aluminium thingy and a plate with three bolts. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Goodo, thought that might be it.

Biloc pulleys can be a bit tricky to remove if you aren't aware of how they lock to the shaft, with the double tapered bushing setup.

Cheers,
Gadge

Pulley came off easy as pie with those instructions Gadge, much easier than using the puller on the smaller first pulley that's for sure. Thanks for your guidance.
