Hi Everyone
Been lurking about for a week or two and thought I might say G'day. I'm in Melbourne where it is darn difficult to find a reel mower. They're so much more prolific in all the other states.

That said, I was lucky enough to win one on Ebay yesterday, super close to home, pick it up and get home to give my turf its first cut with a Scott bonnar, second cut overall (first was last week with a masport rotary).
My turf has been down for 4 weeks so I'm happy to have started cutting and rolling with a reel mower in the run up to dormancy

If I've managed to upload images correctly, you'll see the mower I scored and an image of the Santa ana/ Nullarbor plain in my yard. I've wanted for the mower and the lawn species for nearly 2 decades, so to finally have both leads me to toast with a couple of frothy's.
Great forum and I'm sure I'll have loads of questions in coming months.
Hmm seems I can't add images yet for some reason....oh well glad to have found you guys anyway

I actually picked it up from a mower shop where the bloke volunteered it was his personal machine he used at home.
Not having much practical knowledge of these machines, it seems a good one to me. I have noticed that the end caps in the front roller are a little loose but other than that, it seems a good'un.

Yes, that is a very sound-looking, late Model 45.
It has plenty of good life left in it, that's for sure.

The engine dates from 6/8/96.
I note the the build plate is 3960195.

That's a handsome formal yard there.
It should look sensational when the Scott Bonnar stripes start appearing.
It won't happen overnight ... but it will happen.
