Howdy all,

Scored an early 80's Vortex power-torque jobby in bits. (You know, someone pulls it apart, can't remember how it goes back together, sticks it all in a big bucket and gets rid of it.....)
Anyway, got it all back together and had two screws left over. I'm not a huge fan of having stuff left over from a rebuild/re-assembly so carefully pulled it back apart and realised there should be some sort of heatshield in front of, or around, the muffler. Has anyone got any photos of what the heatshield looks like? It looks like I'm going to have to scratchbuild something to keep the heat from ruining that nice Vortex yellow cover.....

Cheers!

your right GTG, it's a fair lump of casting that fits over the exhaust and hooks onto the starter,
not worth trying to make, they shoudn't be to hard to find, in fact there will be one on the
old vortex i have out the back.
i'll post a pic tomorrow if someone doesn't beat me to it...

Left hand side is the bracket that will hold the tank and sits underneath the rear of the heat shield holding it up off the engine fins and away from the decompression unit

This ones not going back together vc, it's been sacrificed to the victa gods due to a smashed up cowling, and chassis wink so if you're interested in the parts GTG, give me a yell and we can sort something out grin

Thanks for the info guys! If you were around Melbourne Lennyb I'd definitely take you up on your offer.
Anyway, I fished out the tinsnips and hammer and belted some metal into a heatshield.... Works well! grin

I might have to fashion a piece to cover the side of the muffler though......

Looks good mate! Fair bit of metal work there, I'd be proud of that, came up good!
