So Sean, what is the problem, start with all the big bits and then you should be able to work out where the left over small bits go, expect to put it together a few times before you get it all sorted

i recon so Norm. but i did find something interesting. the air gap between the points and the flywheel were about the width of a4. that just must be wrong. .20 maybe. came back with no throttle control cable. so i am just going to get it to start with fuel in the pot for a start then bodgy some sort of throttle cable. what do you think? thanks

Hi Sean, I would like to see some sort of throttle control before it goes into full revs, put some fuel in through the carb and see how it goes

Where did it come back from? The mechanic's pet hate - a 'basket case' machine... There always seems to be some small bits missing, with those.
Chainsaws usually just use a bent wire link between the throttle trigger and the carby, rather than a cable.

Hi Sean
Do you have a moral to this story? Would you like this topic closed?

yes i do have a moral to the story confucius. By three methods we learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is nobelest; second by imitation, which is easyest;and third, by experience, it is the bitterest. please kill this thread before i start quoting mervin. my theropist can do nothing with me

the bloke i lent it to just told me the best way to take a stubborn bolt /nut off is to use a torque wrench backwards and hit it with a hammer. my brain nearly exploded. i was taught never to use a torque wrench backwards. he wanted to fix this for me and i said no noo nnoo ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2016/03/full-9141-27325-dscf5373.jpg)

I think we have the same mate! My old tension wrench was the ratchet type so could be used backwards. I'd suggest you go shopping for new mates.......If only there was somewhere nearby......somewhere where blokes have similar interests....
