Hi Norm

I guess they are collectible for a Qualcast enthusiast.
I feel they represent just how cheap one can make an electric reel
mower, and one carrying the famous 'Panther' branding too.

I wonder whether these were imported here, or this one came with
an immigrant to this country. I have not seen this model before
on these shores.

Hmm, the non-Oz plug(s)/sockets seem a giveaway- import. Not a plug aficionado so can't speculate on possible source. Maybe not even 240V. Note the comment in the ad:
Even if 220/240V, and I suspect so judging by the cable thickness, if it is designed for 60Hz (we run 50Hz in Oz) you'll lose some performance.

EDIT: All right, I admit there's a slight chance it was exported from Oz, the plugs changed and since reimported. But unlikely, hey?

There is evidence this machine was privately imported.

When Victa sold electric Qualcasts in the 1980s they appear to
have been fitted with Australian controllers.

Well, that's your call - whatever floats your boat.

Count on it needing a reel and bedknife grind if you actually want to use it, though.

I must admit there would be well over 20 other machines I would pirchase before wasting my time on that thing.

Off to China as more scrap I'd say.

Norm, the one to get for kicks and giggles is the Victa Rotamo.

Yep, super rare. One came up last month on Fleabay. Price...$10.
First one I have seen. These will increase in value.

This would not have looked out of place in a 1960s Cyclops Catalogue.

I love it Jack, in my opinion the electrics kept the Victa's were the best looking Victa's from the 80s, I would say best mower over all but I think the Rover Utilities still beat it!
