Your engine is a 75cc Suffolk, your machines serial number should be on a plate that is attached to the deck front. Have a look over it to see what you can find.

Hello gml and Paul.

Yep, I guess on these '70s machine there is a plate on the front:-
I fear it may have been removed ...

It is the mower model, not the engine that will determine the parts.
But, the Suffolk engine may be relevant as an identifier if the
plate is missing.

Hope this helps.

When putting it back together you might find it easier to remove the engine from the base, only 4 bolts. Don't remove it all together, take out the bolts and slide it across enough to work.

Time for some pictures please, I am not sure what the end of the shaft looks like. If it has a key to align the sprocket or a taper on the end of the shaft.

It may require a lock nut or a fold over lock tab, pics will help :-)

Should work OK as the whole assembly is rotating together. Tighten it up as hard as you can with a socket and bar then give the bar a tap with a hammer to finish. If you can work out a way to hold the shaft while tightening even better. Have you got the chain ?

It's Deluxe B14 -the brass plate is on the back bolt of the mower . I can see it in the pics!!! It's pretty non descript ! It's under the bolt near the starter at the back . It should have the model stamped on it . It looks like it's been painted . It's under the bolt near the starter . Do you know where I mean?? It's oval shaped .

Off topic a bit but saw an ATCO childs car on the Antiques Roadshow the other day It looked like they had just taken the cutter off one of their mowers and put it in the back of the car to drive the wheels. Apparently they were made right through to the 50's and could manage 8 MPH.
