Hi all, great site you have here!

I have a Power Torque motor (early Chinese) and i cant figure out what is up with the decompressor.
The Decompressor itself appears fine, ie. springs open, and when sucked shut and blocked, stays shut with no air leaks.

The motor is currently a bare block, with no carby/hoses/exhaust attached.

Problem is, when installed the decompressor does not function. It appears that the compression from the motor acts on the underside of the decompressor diaphragm, closing it immediately.
Within 2 revolutions(~half the cord), the motor becomes very hard to pull through.

I have tried the motor with 2 different decompressors with the same result (one with the restrictor installed)
I have checked there is no carbon in the head holding it shut.

Any ideas on what could be causing this behaviour?

Have you got the blade plate on? If not that'll be why it's hard to pull it acts as a counterweight

What the hell, it runs!

Hi Wolfrt and welcome to the family!

As Michael said above it sounds like either the blade plate is loose/missing OR the crankshaft is bent.

These engines need the blade plate fitted to start and run. if you pull it without the plate fitted it will pull the cord (Painfully) out of your hand.

know nothing
good tip by the other guys . as it is the real flywheel , same for almost any small engine and good it didnt try to start mate . as ihatewetsocks said , it WILL HURT even now when a broken flywheel key it still hurts diognosing lol . we all learn the hard way .

the flywheel on theses is really only for cooling as not much weight to them so they NEED a steel plates maybe not blades though

Hello wolfrt and all Contributors

This is just another example of the experience members bring to
these great forums. Thanks to Michael for the first diagnosis, and then
to others for support.

All very amazing.
