Hi All just joined the forum I am already the owner of 2 scott bonner reel mowers and just scored myself a bargain off gumtree another SB 17 inch reel mower for $90 very rough looking and it wasn't going.
Just spent the last few hours washing the crud off and getting it running bit of a strange one it has not got a throttle/choke control on the handle and it has got a square handle frame not the usual y type shaped handle.
It has a fairly new looking briggs & stratton 3hp engine
Even though it is not running properly yet it cuts well
Having a issue getting it to run smoothly but I will ask advice on appropriate section.

Hello gtman,

A big warm welcome to the ODK Forum, we all love to tinker here so you'll be in good company. :welcome:

The type of Handle bar you are referring to is the Pram Bar which was generally fitted to the Lawn King range of model 45's.

Yes there are bargains out there to be had but ofcourse someone has to put in the hard yards to get these disused machines properly going again and that's something we can most definitely help you with.

Once again a huge welcome to the ODK.

Cheers,
BB

Hi gtman,

The Lawn King is every bit the same as a standard Scott Bonnar machine of the time except for the Pram Bar and that it had a 2.0 HP engine fitted opposed to a 3.0 HP power plant. It was basically made as a special machine to be sold through various Hardware chain stores so as to be different to the normal green coloured units.

Rest assured there are no technical differences between the two versions and to use a good comparison, think of the Commodore vs Toyota Lexen scenario, made in the same plant on the same production line at Elizabeth, but having different badges on it and some slight cosmetic changes.

Cheers,
BB

Hi and welcome,

There are some good posts on the Lawn King, I was reading them yesterday. I will find the link and post it here for you or alternatively you can type Scott Bonnar into the search bar at the top of this page. What colour is your King.
