My mate has a hk30 kirby and he pulls it and pulls it but when you take the plug out it's dry. He pulled the carb apart and all looks ok we think it might be not enough compression. Any help will be appreciated

ask your mate to make sure he's giving the motor full choke, leaver on top of carb, it has three positions, fully open , half open sometimes used to warm up when cold , and fully closed, choke needs to be fully closed to draw fuel into the cylinder to fire when engine is cold , some kirbys had a primer bulb to pump, if it has make sure he pumps it a few times and checks that its working.

Yeah he has full choke and no primer. What draws the fuel into the cylinder from the carb? A pump diaphragm or the compression?

intake pressure ...... vacuum . but does it have fuel in the bowl ? if its been sitting unused , this new fangle fuel is doing all sorts of things now , one i had was stuck in some sort of jelly type stuff .

for a test ONLY crack the bowl nut see if its got petrol in there if its been sitting could be a stuck needle or float

Yeah has fuel in it and he said carb was surprisingly clean as a whistle. We can get it going with start ya bastard and will keep running.

I've told him to use his hand as a choke and see if that draws fuel into the motor

Fixed it, was the choke he's going to make a new one as the old one is too small and can't find a new part thanks to all for your help
