Hello Gman

It's rare to see these follies in flight.
This is the first one I have seen that attempts to show the
Predicta system at work.

May I ask this:
What are your thoughts on the governor?
Is it responsive, or is their a lag or delay?
Is it consistent and reliable in its operation?

It has always amused me - the control on the rear flap.
Isn't that a lot more inconvenient than a control at the finger tips?

A treat to see this video.

Only few times I have cut the grass with this mower and haven't really put it threw any hard work with long grass. But as you see with my post it works well extra Revs cut in from flaps. When grass little longer thicker then backs down to your Rev you set at. Just like throttle . there's plenty of adjustment in mower Base. And flaps to cater for conditions of length of lawn Ya it's a cool pice of Machinery . Throttle start stop. Can use to hold revs high or low you adjust to conditions Long as your Carfull ,great fun to use

G'day Gman

That is a very helpful response.
AS I said, we don't often see these machines in use.

I would love a photo/video, showing a close-up of the rear
control and the components of the Predicta and its settings.
Most folk - who will never own an Auto - would have no idea how
the system was intended to work.

Perhaps you could help with a video devoted to the Predicta mechanism?

Cheers & thanks

Absolutely awesome machine there Gman one to be proud of. I've given up on the idea of every having a complete one. So it's great to see one in great working condition. Well done thanks for that.

Cheers Gman...

This is only the third Automatic Ive ever seen in Action, and as Blumbly says, I doubt ill ever obtain a front flap for mine either.

As you know I had the chance to restore one years back. Way over engineered and failure in many aspects, but as youve said, it was kinda fun to restore and Use....

Great to see you back mate:)

Thankyou....

Brilliant Gman,

I haven't see those detail shots before.
I hope 3D printers will, some day, make quality copies of the
Predicta parts - so all those autos out there can be returned
to original specification.

Thanks for giving us an up-close and personal look at this
engineering folly from the '50s.

Nice Shots Mate :)

You'll have to take me for a mow Sometime...lols :)

I'm really grateful you've taken the time to post these Images G, as the intricacies of the Predicta System are rarely seen. :)

While I'm sad to see so few exist in Complete Form, Id Share a different View, as Id really hate to see these parts replicated. So many classics and rarities have been Devalued over the years due to a flood of replicas, so much so that they had often begun to lose their Appeal....

Cheers....

Yes I do agree strongly with that. However I myself can see that that would be the only way mine would ever look the same again. As I just can't afford to spend the kind of money (if I could find what I need) that I would have to spend to make it complete again. It wouldn't be so bad if (and I know I would) people openly admit it had replicated parts on it,but I know others wouldn't. Yes thanks for those awesome photos.
