Hey Guys,

This is just a few kms from me, and looks tidy...

Can Anyone refresh my memory as to where this mower falls in the VC run...

Its Place, rarity, originality and the like would be great, as The info is spread all over the forums.

Cheers...

Cheers Guys...

Aaaah a MK1 thats The best Model isnt it?

The chrome looks very good, and I wasn't sure if the Black catcher was meant to br green? Other than that I thought it looked pretty damn gooood...

And yes I was hoping Blumbly would offer his expertise, and whats a fair buy price:)

upto a ton i think , if the starter ring is in good nick man they are hard to find , i gave up here LOL green ring around the trip stater , i think they had a dark green catcher but not really sure , but as always it depends on how much you like it and what ya wanna pay , mine was i think $40 but nowhere near as good as that one

Thanks VMan:)

The ring does look pretty sweet, and with the chrome this good id say shes been well sheded.

Yeah I d go to a ton if it looks as sweet in the flesh. Got a new barrel and piston for a 160 ive been holding onto for the Autodrive.

OK in the grant scheme of things. This is in fact the very first VC that was produced.
It is a 1970 VC-160 Mark I.Original engine number would be 5270.
From what I can see from the pictures it is mostly original except for it has the wrong colour fuel tap (should be a white one). Also the fold down handle release should also be a white one not a black one.It seems to (at least on one side) has the original hub caps with the Victa embossed in it.The catcher is the correct colour. It didn't come with a green one,or should I say they are a dark green but they fade to a blacker colour so it is the right one,and it has the magic eye.
I was actually thinking about getting this one myself, but I guess if your interested I could back away from it.

Thankyou Mate, I appreciate your advice and knowledge.

I would prefer an Auto drive, But if this is the Most desired model, then thats what Im generally after.

Ill give it a hit and see what comes of it. Im really testing the waters on this model machine, as you know My passions lay elsewhere.

So if its not my thing after a playaround, youll be my first port of call for giving her a new home....:)

Cheers for the Help Blumbly.

It's not the one I'd call most desired,I think that title belongs to the VC-160 Auto drive Mark I.That's the one that's hard to find. These ones are not uncommon it's just the plastic ring around the starter that is becoming the hard part to find.
There was another of these that was in Melbourne not so long ago just didn't have the plastic ring around the stater,it didn't sell.
So please don't think these are rare as they are not hard to find,it's the plastic ring that's the hard part to find.
I just don't want you to get it and pay a huge amount for it then realize these still plenty of them.

Cheers Blumby,

I think its more the fact they are getting rare in this condition and that its the first of the Series that appeals most...

And I would Also like the MK1 Autodrive to go with it....

OK cool just so long as you will be happy with it,I just wanted you to know.
That's fine and you are right they are slowing disappearing as a lot just don't find there way to someone who has the time to see them go somewhere other than recycled metal.
I do wish you luck on the Auto drive they are getting hard to find now.I'm even struggling to find any as I need possibly one more just as a parts mower even parts ones are getting hard to find.

Thanks Blumbly,

Yeah Im not holding my breath on the Autodrive, but one day ill find one,

Probably a silly question, but is the Autodrive and std the same base?

I would assume not, but if they are then I can look out for a wreck as well.

Thanks again for the advice, I appreciate it

Cheers....

So they are the same VMan? Just with extra provisions for the drive mechs mounting points and the like? Yup Im sure I can sort that stuff out...That might put the odds in my favour if a roughy or wreck comes up!

Now ive got AD fever again! Lols

I know right!

Theres nothing in Sydney anymore, its all in Vic and Qld....

This Mower is only A few Suburbs from me, so its definately worth getting especially in this condition.

Im actually secretly a little excited as this will may well be my first VC, and Something new to play with.

Only you vccomm could come up with a crazy idea of converting a VC-160 Mark I to an auto drive. Not sure how you could as the casting for the auto drive parts are completely different. You wouldn't even be able to get the belt around the engine and back around to where it should be.
Mal I wished the there were VC's in Queensland all gone now very hard to find here, they all appear to be in Melbourne now.Be nice if they were here I still need a few to complete my collection.

another one fell into my car today . walking around a junk shop as ya do . spotted this under a pile of um stuff covered in old grass cuttings grease and oil even has the dark greeeeeeeeen catcher a little cracked but not beyond it . got it home , tightened up the blade plate a new s/plug and away she went even new blades on it , sure its a MK 1 but had the impact starter changed , see the screw holes for the elusive starter ring .
