Used it to mow the grass today and and it runs well but a bit noisier than todays mowers.

Model number is 82-161, I have not been able to find out much info on the net about pope mowers.
I would like to know what the grass catcher looks like so if I am lucky enough to come across one I can grab it.

Cheers all damo wink

Helo Dodegy,

Wonderful!
I would say that was in original condition. The paint is surprisingly
good. I think Pope paint quality was always very good.

Pope side-catchers all looked pretty much the same, and they do appear
from time to time on auction sites. Mind you, the side catchers were
never fitted as standard; they were always accessories, and seem not to
have been advertised in later brochures.

A similar one may be found here:-

Hope this helps.

gotta find an engine soon now .
thought they had bigger rear wheels ? might be just the photo and a cap missing , had screws to hold them on ?

Hello Dodegy and vccomm

I found a close-up of the attachment arrangement for the Model 82.
It may help.

thanks jack for going to the trouble of finding the catcher pic fantastic !!!
I made a hub cap out off aluminium , painted white looks pretty good ,
the muffler is a slide on fit held on by a clamp, exhaust outlet is the hole on the side ,
peter I hope you get yours up and running soon , the engines have heaps of power, I run mine on 20 to one oil fuel mix would rather to much oil than not enough .
please post some pics when you get her together , there good mowers , something different
damo cheers

Hi Damo,

I just picked up another Pope with a catcher. It's not exactly the same as yours but the catcher shape will be very similar.

Hope this helps.

The pope I mentioned in an above post runs well. I'm just waiting for a muffler from member rusty ute.
