Would anyone know the size of these rivet's.I have a B&S starter that is rotated anti-clockwise (see pic 2)so that when you start it you need to stand at the side of the mower to start it which in my eye's is just wrong. I want to rotate it clockwise to where I think it should be and it is on all my other mowers.I know you can put bolts there which I have done to my mower but it would look much better with rivets.

just normal 1/8 poprivets , just be careful of length as too long n clobber the flywheel

Thanks vccom and excuse my lack of knowlege on rivets but the 1/8 rivets I have are from a pack (cheap) that I got from that big overpowering hardware chain and the heads are way to small.Do better quality rivets have larger heads or do I need to look for 1/8 with a larger head.I ask this because it is a fair drive for me to get to a store that would stock better fastners.

most are 1/8 i found , just take it off and take it with you , just a snug fit and as short as you can find so they dont foul anything under the cowelling .
drill out old rivets and test fit , they wont worry . another way id drill out the rivet be sure not to enlarge the hole and test a drill bit in the remains then ya cant get a more accurate fit wink . old tricks still the best ones

Sorry to interject here gents, the size of those rivets is not 1/8(3.2mm), they're actually 3/16(4.8mm). The 1/8 rivets will be too loose and cause the starter to rattle and vibrate, ultimately shearing the rivets off. The 3/16 rivets will also solve your problem of the small head.
