Nope....Your mower is a model 5 Series 2.
This serial is off a M5 Series 3...
It was very common to just change the whole motor cowl starter etc of a later mower onto an earlier model as it only required the removal of the 4 bolts, and switch the whole assy over.
This is why your cowl Starter and tank assy are all model 5 S3 also.
Your looking for a serial in in the old style stamping Starting with...eg A xxxxx, AC xxxxx or possibly even the low 300,000s

Ive come across a few BAD serials lately, but ive not seen enough to determine their correct order or pattern.
However the Stamping is of the original early style and most of the other examples ive seen are on Model 5 series 2 mowers.
So since the model 3 and dep stores used the finer stamping, Id say this would almost certainly be mid to late M5 S2....But I cant be 100% sure until a few more examples come along.
The rest of the M4/5 Serial range is fairly accurate at present, with just a few unkowns remaining....
Just curious....Did this BAD engine come with this mower sale or is it one you already had? If it was with this mower then id definately say its the original....

I am not soaking any info in that i am reading about serial nos. No that BAD motor came off the one i previously sent a pic of the sandblasted base. So if i put that motor on the one i got today would it be original?? Sean

Not sure, I dont remember your other mower, except that its a model 5 series 3.
But the IAAA engine on this mower would be the correct serial no for the sandblasted one.
