With the help of CyberJack spotting this on E-Bay I know have acquired a spray attachment for my Singer Lawn Mower
One thing I was not sure of at the time was the right colour of the mower now with the spray attachment which sill has the original colour my colour now is right

Hello Ian, Paul and Blumbly

that's great news!
I was hoping it would match up with a dedicated restorer, and Singer owner!
This is a great record of the machine and accessory.
So, will you get it working? As Paul asked, what will you spray first?

All very Singer

It is not for 'paint spraying' for spraying poison etc
Will I get to work NO still missing the power take of that fits on the mower base that this spray fits to
It is still better than one I have not got and where can you find another one, this is most likely the only one
So far everywhere I have looked and asked, does anybody know of another Singer mower so far NO so do I have the only one ?????

Hmmm...

Mate, I don't think anyone mentioned 'paint spraying' - but I do understand
if they thought that. To clarify this for members:

Singer offered three kits -
Kit No.1 was the pump; Kit No.2 was the compressor (for spray painting), and;
Kit No.3 was the all-purpose garden and tree spray.

Ian has Kit No.3...

So, will you spray the roses for aphids, or the lawn with fertilizer? laugh

Ian, I'm interested in these questions for the record.
[1] I feel the Singer advertising is misleading in that it presents these kits as
available for 'Singer lawnmowers'. I believe the PTO option was only available
for the side discharge machines (like yours). Is that true?

[2] The PTO option was not available on the original side-discharge machines.
What I don't know is whether the PTO machines were equipped that way from the
factory - or whether the PTO kit was, itself, an accessory.

Any information most welcome.

In any case, yes, this is a very rare machine.
I hope more Singers will turn-up in the future - now they are known!

Ian, congratulations on your foresight in saving this mower and accessory.

Hi Jack
Some more info
The box says made by Singer BUT the tank has 'Rega' on it so who made what??

I believe the PTO option was only available for the side discharge machines

Don't know BUT look at my base big flat area at the back and that hole is where the drive for the the PTO comes from on mine there is Tin cover plate over the hole
So I would say you would have to have the features of my base for the attachments

G'day Ian,

Yep, your comments are good stuff for the record.
Perhaps Rega made the whole shebang for Singer to Singer's design (?).
I don't think we will ever know that...

The issue of the PTO is a moot point.
My current opinion is that it was offered as a retro kit that could be easily fitted to your base.
Below, it is shown driving Kit No. 2 (the compressor).

All very interesting.

Hi Ian and ODK members,

The record for Singer lawnmowers is now available in the History Forums HERE.

The rest is history.
