Hi Guys,
I got this mower as a trade a couple of weeks back. It is not something I have ever seen before and was hoping some of you other guys might be able to shed some light on it.
The engine appears to be a copy of a Briggs but it has the Honda/ Chonda Style Carby. It has a mechanical governor similar to a quantum and the newer 500/550 Series Briggs Engines.
The starter was jammed but that was a pretty easy fix with some new rope. The carby was pretty clogged up with some old fuel but everything came apart and cleaned up nicely.
I cleaned up the rest of the engine and put it all back together and it fired straight up on the first pull. The engine actually run really nice and was very quiet.
The bonus (not sure at this stage) is the mower is self propelled. I inspected the belt and cleaned all of the clogged up grass out of the drive area. The belt was in excellent condition and after a good clean the self-propelled functions really well. I also cleaned out the drive components in the wheels and its running like new.
Id appreciate any comments others might have on this mower. For reference I have included some photos.
Jaffa

looks very much like the engines they throw at talons , almost identical to a quantum but that one has a better cable set up though .
drive wheels look same as rover too inside there .

Good Point Dave they do look a little like the Talon's. That is one of the only engines I wont fix - I do use the bases though.

I seen those thanks Diesel Boy.

Has anyone actually encountered these? I assume its been imported? Or perhaps are they sold somewhere is AUS?

Would like to understand there build quality a little more if possible.
