Hi all,
I have just inherited an old rover ride on, the model no is 7210, can anyone tell me what the name of the model is if it has one (i.e.rancher, ranger etc)and what year it might have been made. Also if any one can tell me if the engine is the origial size for this mower and how many horsepower it is, the engines model no is 100902.I also have a technical question, my father couldnt get it going one day so he just left it in the shed for quite a few years, when I got it home, I pulled it down to see if I could find anything and found the coil was loose, could someone tell me what the gap is supposed to be between the coil and the rotor, I know it is critical, and dont want to just use a trial and error method in case I damage something. I did hear my dad say once that he used a piece of paper or something to set the gap, but I cant ask him any more as he has severe dementia, and it is very likely his answer wont make an ounce of sense anyway. This method doesnt sound very accurate to me, because different types of paper have different thicknesses. I am new to this , so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

bigboppa,

Ok the first thing is the model: Colt73

The engine I need the model type and code in order to supply more information(it will be either 5hp or 8hp).

As to the coil your father is nearly correct in saying paper but a standard type business card will do the trick. cheers2

bigboppa,

The tear that the engine was made is 1977 and if you want information on parts list you can click the link below.

Thanks for all your help Bruce, got it going and mowed the lawn today, she may be old but she still goes strong, its a little beauty. All it needed was that coil resetting and tightening, and it fired up first pull, frightened the daylights outa me I wasnt expecting it to start that quick!! not bad after about 12 yrs of sitting idle. although I did drain it and put fresh fuel and a new plug in it, before I tried starting it, so that probably helped.
