Hello Damo,

Surely they must be important to any outboard collector.
I'm thinking 1960s.

hi jack 1960ish I thinks about right, I think the larger one is a 40hp twin , don't think I would like to try pull starting it 5 k off shore in a heavy swell with points ignition to play up, not to sure many people collect out boards but if any one is interested they can pm as to there where abouts , what gets me is that in there day there would have been few who could afford a new outboard ,
in fact if you wanted a boat you brought some plans ply and made one your self.

I believe they are mid to late 60's model. The earlier 60's Evinrudes are rounder and sleeker. I run a '71 model johnson seagull (Same as evinrude) on my boat which is predominantly the same from 63-74 models. It is a sweet runner, first pull starter - the best engine I've ever used (Used to run a much later model Mariner which was just rubbish and a later model Yamaha which was worse). I also use a '65 Seagul 2.5hp 40+ has a back up - beautiful engine and a bit of fun too - just leaves a trail of oil slick on the water behind you!

Pete.
