I have been thinking all day about this issue. 1. can I just use the smaller boss. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-9141-22765-dscf4775.jpg) 2. Weld a couple of beads around it to make it fit.

nope , it will weaken it and distort it too so if it does go back on might never come off again . just pull the head n barrel and have a little looksee , even totalled inside you can use everything from other engines except the crank . new bearings and seals and you have yourself a new engine for very little cost maybe $40 at most if no piston n rings are needed

cant really see a problem in thar , so what was the noise you told about ?, already 20 thou over too , so if piston is still good you need to stick with it . looks a tad dry though . pic' of inside the head too ? i'll tell you why later if we like whats there the noise wasnt just a badly fitted or bent cooling cowl ? (black tin top cover) that head gasket is home made too , who's been in there tinkering huh

Yes i recon the noise was the cowl, ps. I made the gaskets out of the cardboard in the middle of a vb 30 block. I dont trust this carby. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-9141-22767-dscf4778.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-9141-22768-dscf4782.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-9141-22769-dscf4780.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-9141-22770-dscf4781.jpg) Found scratches on the cowl.

was a good guess then !! so engine is ok then . goodo , so just get the correct gaskets , you can see already she's gunna blow !! if you like to use the g3 then remove the plastic adapter and go for it need to use the throttle cable too though to suit . so yup , change those gaskets vb's a great beer but it dont have that many uses any air leaks will upset it so while you have the boss off do the bottom seal too then should be good to go ps , std head sorry hehehhee

As i have no other gaskets, read somewhere that i could use it as gasket paper. even cornflake boxs?? i want to change the carby, does the plastic adapter come out easy? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-9141-22773-dscf4785.jpg)
