![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-9141-22657-dscf4715.jpg) This is the beast. I can get no spark and as i have no puller i cannot get to the coil thing to clean it. i think i need to extend the lead to the sparkplug aswell. it has plenty of compression the old bloke assured me it went 20 years ago. I do have spares

OK once you have the fuel-cooling cowl and starter off.Just try and wiggle the starter with two screws drives to see if the flywheel will come off.Don't stand on the screw drivers and really force it,as if it is that tight then yes it will need a puller.Just give it a go it might be easy to come off, just don't force it as things then will break. If your spark plug lead is that short you will need to get the flywheel off to change the lead over.I use a harmonic balance kit to remove my flywheels if they are tight. Like the pictured one. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/07/full-5048-22658-harmonic_balance.jpg) Try that see how you go.

I have made a BIG mistake. First up this is my missus's laptop, I tried to dl a workshop manual for a victa 18 and it filled my laptop up with that much rubbish i cannot use it. Are there any computer experts out there. Will make payment with a lawnmower. And yes I am an idiot. Cheers

Problem fixed, restored it to factory settings. I am taking my 18 to a mechanic tomorrow who will let me use his puller.

i quickly knocked up a simple puller for that job by using a bit of 5mm plate steel and cutting it triangular the drilled holes same spacing as the mower magneto holes and one centre hole. i got 3 bolts same thread as the housing and one for the centre hole to allow some leverage space. it worked so well i made another for the older victas as their hole spaces are a little bit different. i keep the lot in a plastic container ready for when i need it.

Can't see it's really worth it the harmonic balance kits I was telling you about. You can get for $11.95,check the link. Harmonic Balance Kit Or if you wanted to you can pick up for around $36.90 at places like supercheap auto.Hardly work the time in making something. For 12 bucks.Anyway your choice I guess, but as I said before I'd try wriggling it off.Could be going to all that trouble for nothing.Out of the hundreds I've had to pull of only found maybe a dozen that needed the puller. Only trying to help. I thought mans best friend was his dog?

Dont own a Dog..... And its $25 for a kit, postage aint free... I own every puller for my work, but I still prefer the purpose made Fly pullers for My Vintage Mowers. Small light quick and easy, and they only take 5 mins to make. Whatever your comfortable with, always works best....:)

blumbly i have jiggled it wiggled googled and swore at it i understand it is only a keyway it should come off, was thinking of applying heat, you recon they should come off relatively simply. my attempt at a puller was a fail.

OK use some penetrating spray WD40 things like that.Soak it well and let it sit for a day or two. Then use the screw drivers again wiggling.Make sure the screw drivers are at opposite ends to each other, move around the flywheel. If you can get a spare pair of hands do the screw drivers and your nut trick with the hammer at the same time. See how you go.
