Hi all,
I have recently started a project on a victa lawnmower that has recently been passed on to me from my father in law and is in bad condition.

Firstly
1 - It's not running by itself but can start and run on CRC easy start spray.
2 - The base is rusty and altough it's still quite a new mower I think the fact is that the manufacturer's DONT unercoat the base before painting and this has started to lift the paint in numerous areas.

Just wondering if anybody has re-painted a base before and how they went about it?

Myself - have high pressure cleaned the base which has lifted of 90% of the paint after I took the engine off.

Was thinking sand blast the rest off and then repsol and undrcoat with metal primer then re-spray but any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated ;-)

Will post photos soon

madhouse74,

I would recommend that you do sand blast the frame and give it good preparation with the operate undercoat with metal primer.

Just make sure that you get a good even coverage with the undercoat and you will get a really good finish with the final coat.

Please post a picture under Restoration pictures which is a sub forum here so that everyone can see. cheers2

madhouse74, if your getting the base sand blasted ,powder coating
would be a good option, but if you want to spray paint it use a decent 2 pack paint. Don't waste your time using paint without hardener in it.
