hey Ht6. i know you know a great deal about these.i still have trouble working out the correct parts n bits to go with what. according to the engine number 58654 what type and pieces are correct for it. as ive read on other posts they sometimes had bigger mounts and smaller mounts. i still would like it to be as close to perfect as possible. eg:correct throttle, wheels, carby, muffler ,base n mounts. fuel tap etc etc. there is a lot of differing opinions out there and i trust your input the most. just one other example would be the mufflers for instance. there are 3 that i am aware of . offset hole, concave shaped centre hole concave. and a convex bun centre hole.
If my collection is complete ( then how come i keep buying stuff ? ) 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
58,000 Serial will be tin wheels(circlip axles) on model 2 chassis. Axle mount height will be 20mm.
Engine will be Victa stamped and use the larger champfer Top hat pulley.
Carby is model 2 non brass nut circlip style.
Muffler will be std bun central convex style.
There are only 2 genuine rotomo mufflers. Model 2 central bun with convex outer(common) and model 1 central convex (same as model 2 style but wider) All Rotomo mufflers are convex, the concave effect you see often is merely a colapse from heat over time.
The 3 remaining muffler types are reinforced central and reinforced offset and std offset.
Offset mufflers were not intended for rotomo, but used on Generic/store models that required height clearance. EG, HG Palmer Utilities.
Both reinforced mufflers could be either late OE replacements or After market.
To Simplify, yours uses the std bun, non reinforced central convex.
Model 2 Victa badge. (Straight 1 on the 18) curved 1 is model 1 badge.
Throttle black plastic Victa marked
Fuel cap tin
Filter choke, Small 3/4 mounted white top adjustable Red Victa smiley face
snorkel straight
2 cable mount clips
2 alloy snorkel mount ties.
2 piece spark plug
Model 1/2 fuel tap.
In regards to axle mount height your will be safe and accurate at 20mm.
The larger mounts were predominantly found on model 3, but have been seen sporadically on model 2s, possibly due to supplier or availability problems.
Let me know if this is suitable, and ill post some pics of correct parts.
Im sure I have an accurate 2 in the Victa or rotary forums, you can check.
Check out Jonesys last Roto 2 . Its a very accurate original example, and we've broken down the correct parts in detail...
The last mower halfway down page 1 should explain everything. Let me know if youve got any questions as you go along. Im going to add part of my collection to the archives soon, so we can see all the accurate variations of model 1, 2 and the early transitionals.
well after looking at that link and the videos with it, it seems pretty obvious to me that i really love these old victas.not only victas but most of the older small engines i have. i really cant wait for the weekends to come around so i can tinker some more. my home renos are never going to get finished at this rate.
If my collection is complete ( then how come i keep buying stuff ? ) 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Ahhhhh, Your Finally coming around Giz...:) But Im with you, I love most from this period.
I have just passed the 30 Rotomo Mark recently, with 18 in my own collection.
Im not allowed to add to my collection now unless I sell off my excess to buy more earlier rarer models, Finish the HT, My 26 J Model Harley and A few of my Pedal cars....No more dipping into the kitty lols.
