if you have a look at the post headed ' can anyone put a name on this mower ' , that mower is a 505 s/p , is that the same as yours? the number you have sounds like a parts # for an engine part.

Yup, so that makes it an early 1980's model. The last few series of the full-crankshaft 160cc engine, with electronic ignition.

These were made from about 1980 to 1984, when the PowerTorque half-crank engine replaced the full-crank one.

That alloy deck looks like it's a 'Pro' series to me, but hopefully someone with greater late model Victa familiarity will chime in.

Cheers,
Gadge

yep, 550 pro series, ( all these where sold as pro series) and are a great slashing mower, they came as push or self propelled. I have had two for years and they are well worth saving. The only real difference to the rest of the Victa range is they run a longer lower crank than normal, yours has a very interesting tread pattern on the rear wheels.
As for what their worth........the last one i got was from the nature strip wink

lets know how you go getting it going, i wouldn't recomend gasket goo for head and base gaskets, get the right ones if you can, makes life much easier.

Yep, there's a lot missing there. The pull starter assembly, cowl, carby, intake snorkel and most importantly the top half of the electric starter motor. It's definitely an eaasier option to replace with a known working motor than trying to get all the bits you need for that one.

i am back to working on my series 80 rebuilt motor, has compression, dont know how the carby hooks up, has no spark, think i forgot a washer between the starter and the motor. uuummmm

one of the reasons for no spark could be the coil wire needs to go to the plug ( in front of the head) ,and not the plug you've got in the decomp hole ( the one in the top)....... two wires in the back of carb are kill switch, if their touching it wont spark, and there's no washer between the starter and motor. but they are tricky to put on if you've had it off.

hmmm, i;m not sure how to describe the method, it goes on the reverse of taking it off, if you noticed how it was and put it back the same it should be ok, if it;s not working right then it may need explaining.

is there a washer between the plastic and the motor, where the centre bolt of the starter goes??

from memory no, you need to line up the plate on the back and put the two top screws through, fit it to the motor , making sure the spring is in the right place, then screw in the center bolt, then the top two.
