Hi All and other!
A bit of a conundrum for me today, trying to get a new throttle cable for my 1972 Victa VC-160 MKIII, and while I can track supply for the Short & Standard cables for the G3 carby, no luck on the long... Now maybe my memory is failing and it is indeed the medium cable I want (white I think) but I recall it as the long (yellow) and even looking on the outdoorking shop has shown only short and med!
Anyone know a source for new long G3 throttle cables, or am I scavenging the tip for this one?
Cheers Ty

Another member recently found the same issue when searching for the long cable. He drew a blank with suppliers, who also only had short and Medium.
Can you not make one if Squizzmans offer falls through? I was buying earlier cable by the metre, Im sure you could source this type:)

Thanks Squizzy, that would be fantastic!
HT6, it's possible to make up, but it's a surprisinly tricky one, the tiny coil at the carby end is hard to form without kinking the cable enough to cause it to loose cut out pressure, and the top end, while easier to form, needs a suitable sleve atrached firmly to the outer sheith, again, without any damage to the cable...
As the cable has to apply pressure to press the cut out pin in to stop the mower, the cable is very sensitive to wear and kinks.
Cheers Ty

Hi Ty nice to see you back again. Not real sure if you can remember the fellow (Had the mower shop at his house)that was around the Higgins area (I think).I know he could and did make up throttle cables.Just depends on how often you go to Canberra.

It's been quite a while my friend! Good to speak to you!!
I do recall him, that chap who worked out the back of his house... I haven't been down to canberra in at least 9 months now... Might make a trip one day soon though when I have some leave from work, so I will keep him in mind!
Cheers Ty

Yeah was living there almost 3 years ago and Ty (Mr Davis) and I were tight real tight. You could say best buddy's.Bugger how I miss that,oh the fun we had with lawn mowers.I could only imagine that somewhere in Canberra there must be a huge pile of mowers as between the two of us, wow the amount of mowers we were collecting.Huge amount of mowers we got. Collectors knew when we left town.
Here for a good time, not a long time.
