I'll just add these up to help you.As even I had to look up that part number.
For those who don't know it is the plastic rod that holds the smaller flap to the main flap.
I'll have a look I might have one but I'm really not sure, but I will look for you.

Hi Blumbly,
You are spot on with the photos, the parts I need are in fact the small spring clips called torsion bars in the parts list, that go in each end of the plastic tube you refer to, it shows in photo as silver in colour.
I will attach copy of the chassis parts list contained in the operating instructions I have highlighted part with white arrow for you to look at.

If needed I can take a photo of the remaining worn clip/torsion bar I have.

Cheers,
Yormalda

Oh sorry my mistake got confused I was thinking of the hinged tabule,my bad.
The torsion bar only goes on end, there is a pressed piece on the upper and lower flap.
I know the piece I did find one I had here but the problem is they rust out.As the one I found here I put it on a mower but there is just not enough left for it to work.
I wonder if it's possible to just make one out of some wire??Hmmm?

Thanks Blumbly,
I take your point but I was hoping to keep mower as original as possible, although I realise that the mower is 37years old in July, (still have nearly mint operating instructions with original sale receipt)!
So may need to source some spring steel wire & make 2 new ones, not what I would like though!
Thanks,

Yes I can understand that, but they are getting hard to find good ones.Although after having a look at some of my mowers over the weekend all the mowers that have that small flap do appear to use the same set up.So don't give up just yet.It is still possible I just know now that I don't have any spares.Sorry.

OK Yormalda I'm not sure if you are still looking for this torsion bar,but I found a spare one I have. It's not in the greatest condition but if you still want one there is this one.
Here a picture.

One end as you can see has rusted and become shorter however it still reaches were it needs to.
Let me know if you want it.
Sorry I couldn't find a better one.At this point anyway.
