In my travels, I have seen this pristine new Briggs from 1989 on fleebay and I thought others might also oggle at the decal.
I never see decals like this in my work. Also ODK's resident "archivist" might find the high quality engine pictures that the seller has posted to be worth while?
I know they are not a rare model but in this condition I get a trip into the past.

If laying it cylinder-downward is an example of the way it's been taken care of, it might be a disappointment to someone before long.

Hello Christo, Grumpy and ODK members,

Hello Christo. Thanks for allerting us to this. Appreciated!
I have recorded the images and details.

It's not common to hear of these 'barn finds' in Australia.
Twenty-five years in a Farmer's shed north of Brisbane... and a dozen as well!

I wonder whether they were in a pallet pack of 12 (in one big box)?,
or individually boxed? I wonder what their intended purpose was? [not necessarily for a lawnmower]

For the record, here is the full description:-

Cheers and thanks.

Most probably for push and/or self propelled lawn mowers, I'd say. The 4hp IC Briggs was standard fitment to SupaSwift Big Bobs through the 80's. I've also seen one recently on an SB 720(?) at the local tip shop.

Cheers,
Gadge

Hello Christo, Grumpy and Gadge

Hmm... it doesn't explain how such a quantity ended up in regional Queensland.

All very interesting.

I guess if they are New Old Stock they won't have oil in them, so laying it cylinder-downward won't have the usual adverse effects.
