Hi folks. I just scored a nice little 2 stroke Victa, a model MU342A3. It was the dirtiest mower I have ever seen, and was not identifiable as a Victa until I had the pressure washer onto it.
It is running a bit smoky and has a carb leak externally, so I pulled down the carb to find a few leaks and a sad looking needle point and I now have a kit for it.
I am unsure if this motor has electronic ignition. Does anyone know? I have a few spare Victa ignition modules and it would be easy to put one in if it were a points unit.
Thanks,

I have a IIDA EY850 module handy, stamped with Victa 8608 (or B608). Appropriate if points unit?

Hi Julian, please post a pic on the mower and module. I "think" from the model number you posted that its a series 80 full crank. If it's a full crank you'll know if it's got points. 1) there'll be a module riveted to the underside of the top half crankcase just above where the air snorkel meets the carby. 2)you'll find a kill wire coming out of a hole in the crankcase just under the coil. If it's a victa module it's compatible with all victa's. The earlier ones were a little larger and rectangular with the wire coming out of it fixed to the module. The later ones have a spade fitting attached to the module.

That model number would make it a 1983-4 Charger, so the last of the full crank engines. IIRC Victa went to electronic ignition around 1980-81, with the first Commando models.

Yep, its got electronic ignition, The hole i've circled in red has no wires coming out of it to indicate it has points. If you look on the underside at the back end of the carby you'll find the module sitting there. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/02/full-6430-20372-full_crank.jpg)

So new parts installed to carb, starts on first pull after priming.
Great you'd say, but it is pretty smoky and spends half its time four stroking.
Any tips on mixture adjustment?
