I am guessing mid to late 70's (the first 6 digits of the "code" stamped on the cowl of the engine is the date backwards (YY/MM/DD)

I used one similar for a while a few years back as a roughage mower, clocked up a lot of hours but eventually gave up mowing as a cashie business so it now resides behind my shed. It would no doubt still go with some petrol.

I recently purchased one of these Rover Princess mowers for myself. The hammertone blue paint is what attracted me to it.

Can anybody tell me what kind of catcher is needed to fit this mower?

Hello vint-mow
The Princess was a Model 25 Rover Lawnmower.

A glimpse of the catcher is here:-

Hope this helps.

Great mower, catcher release is well out of the danger zone. You release the catcher by lifting the whole catcher off the pegs, the handle is only to lift the rear flap.

Nice mower that one, I found the mower at one tip shop and the catcher at another tip shop 20 minutes away :-)

Why does the cover move around? I would have liked to see it start.

Thats the top of the flywheel, its a side pull starter.

No, you can see the cover is loose and wobbling around from the front view.

G'day all
I suspect the 'vibration' is accentuated by the camera in combination with video compression
used for YouTube.

I have learnt from this post that the Model 25 Princess was
offered in Villiers, Tecumseh, and Briggs variants.

This was a good mid-arch mower, playing 2nd fiddle to
the premium Model 26 Challenger.

Many thanks Paul for the great video.

Hi Jack and Mowerfreak, a lot of vibration and the plastic tank hanging off the front as well. The cover is only held on by the 4 screws on top, if it was supported somehow at the front this would suppress the vibration quite a bit.
