Hi to all ODK members and guests,
Thanks to our Forum Historian and Global Moderator, CyberJack for the interesting history of Stromberg-Carlson,
it reminded me of an old candle-stick telephone that once belonged to my Grandad....After some searching I finally found it....I hope to have it restored one day.

Another version of Mr Alexander Graham Bell's magic invention....

You do know that Bell actually stole the idea for the telephone from Antonio Meucci who unfortunately fell on hard times and couldn't renew his patent and then died before he could receive recompense via the courts. He was officially recognised by the US House of Reps in 2002 for his original idea.

Hi aussietrev, I had not heard that before....there is still a lot of debate on the issue. The US House of Reps might have recognised him, but not the Canadian Government....See the wiki HERE

That's pretty interesting. I didn't know about that controversy.
It didn't ring a Meucci with me.

It's got all the ingredients for a great movie.

Deejay, that's a great story ... of Grandad's phone.
It would look awesome re-chromed. Just visualise ordering a pizza on one of those...
