Hello
Lovemygreen and
ODK members,
I was disappointed to hear that
M.E.Y., the makers of the Alroh, ceased trading in August this year.
Getting spare parts might now be a problem...
In any case, I will attempt to answer your question here: The
Alroh manual says this:
Here's a procedure for alignment. The most important thing is that you don't
attempt alignment of the front roller before you set up parallelism between the bottom block
and rear roller. Once that is done, you align the front roller.
What this says is that the rear roller is fixed on the chaincase side (like a SB Model 45).
This ensures that the angle of attack of the bottom blade is set (not adjustable).
What you must do, then, is make a tool that looks and works like this:-
[it is a height adj. tool with an extra bolt]

Notice that the front roller does not touch the gauge for this first alignment.
You place the bolt head over the top surface of the bottom blade as in (G).
The second screw (I)is set up so that it just touches the underside of the blade/block
when the bar just touches the rear roller on the chain and belt case side (the fixed side).
You then move the gauge to the other side (the adjusting side), and move the rear roller up or
down, until it, too, just touches the gauge. For a domestic machine, touch should be fine
to get a accurate alignment. Once this is done, you have the bottom blade/block aligned
to the rear roller.
It's then just a simple case of bringing the front roller down to touch the end of the
gauge on the chain/belt case side and then align the front roller on the other side by the same method.
This method saves finding a good, flat surface plate around the home.
Hope this helps.
