Hi all, hope someone can help.
My pull start on the mower has snapped and am trying to fix this myself instead of sending to a repair place which will cost me $$$. When I stripped it down the coil came out but managed to put it back together but the coil is not catching and providing any tension. There doesn't seem to be anything on the inside for the coil to clip onto and hope I haven't lost a part. I have done the hook but doesn't seem to be able to catch on anything. Does anyone have any experience with this mower at all and if possible can provide any pictures on how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hi Cooleyes, and a warm welcome to the forum. It great to have you aboard. A picture says a thousand words, so if you could please post some pics of the engine and cowling it would be appreciated. We need the exact model number of the engine as well, thanks. One of our members will be able to give you the correct advice. Instructions for posting pics using our forum 'Inline Uploader' can be found HEREOnce again Cooleyes, to OutdoorKing.

The i4500 engine is a Chinese copy of the Honda GXV140. The pull start is one of the few items that is not a precise, interchangeable copy of the equivalent Honda part - in fact it may vary between different brands of chonda engines. Please post pictures of the pull start so we can understand your post better. Hi to Cooleyes and grumpy, Yes guys, we are flying blind here without pictures, there are subtle variations between the various models, it could be easy to give incorrect advice.

The pictures seem not to have uploaded, Cooleyes. Could you review the process and try again please?

Hi Cooleyes and grumpy,The pics are there now and seem to tell the story. The inner end of the spring would fit in where the slot is in the plastic, adjacent to the centre boss, the outer end of the spring would fit over the white plastic boss on the outer edge of the rope spool. How to tension it is another story.
