micka, we would need to know the actual model number to have any hope of helping with this.

When you post some pictures, both general ones of the machine and specific ones of the clutch and belts, someone may be able to identify it for us micka. Meanwhile, I suggest you take a look at all of the White owner manuals, and see if there is a recognisable picture and description: http://lawnandgarden.manualsonline....ite_outdoor_lawn_mower_product_list.htmlThe owner manuals also tell you how to make adjustments to belts and clutches, and include Illustrated Parts Lists, so if you can find the right one, it will probably solve your problems. Please come back and tell us how you go, including your actual model number, plus pictures of your mower and its belts and clutches. We have very little information on White products, and members will be interested.

hi Grumpy, I found an adjustment on the gear selectors, put the machine in neutral and the gear lever in the dead neutral position and adjusted, this fixed the staying in and not selecting problem. I had the pulleys and springs off when my brother showed me a spring that the end broke off once, he made a new hook on the end and put it back, making it shorter than original, I replaced it and every thing is all good, working as it should. Not much wrong after all but enough to put every thing out of order, if he hadn't have came over when I had it in bits I don't think I would have noticed it, thanks for your help Grumpy

Thanks for reporting back, micka. However now I'm not clear on whether you have adjusted the selector to compensate for having a modified spring, or you fitted a new spring as well as adjusting the selector.

Thanks micka, that completes the thread - I'll close it.
