Hi guys I have been chosen by a friend to fix his lawn lowering device and its a talon lawnhawk it has a surefire 400 motor and no spark.. I personally would put it on the scrap pile on my neighbors front lawn.. however I said I would get it to run for him.. I found the problem to be no spark and it would seem the ignition coil is buggered more to the point the lead to the spark plug is perished and broken .. unfortunately the part required for me to get this piece of crap of my bench is no longer available does any body know if there is an aftermarket part or something that I can make fit
doesnt look too perished yet , you tried the kill wire on the plate (sort of like a briggs) they get brittle n fall out , same problem too , no spark . and the throttle cables are a worry too, straighten and lube it well at the control end on the handle , most i;ve had has the same silly little problems and seem all ok now , cheap n nasty but seem strong if running well . hope it helps
thanks will check those suggestions however beneath the fabric sleeve the lead has been crimped and cut by poor mounting almost looks and feels like it has been burnt
thank you bigted I was sure I would find a compatible part if I looked hard enough and asked the right person.. being backward compatible might explain why they are not available as a talon or husky part .. now to find the briggs part should not be difficult at all I wonder who might stock this ?
any briggs dealer would have one but they're quite expensive. Good second hand ones are fairly cheap. if you come to melbourne let me know i've got a few here.
update ITS ALIVE .. I modified a coil module I had of a briggs project I have sitting in a box by enlarging one hole fitted that .. no spark.. check the kill switch plate and somebody had twitched the wire loosely onto the contact so I soldered that on .. no spark ... removed the spark plug from my near new completely operational rover and fitted that, we have spark ... the plug on the talon was brand new, my friend replaced it days before he gave me the mower ... so I refitted the original coil re routed the spark plug lead and put in a spare plug I had and put all the bits back together pulled the cord and cut some grass ... thank you for all the advice. now I can return this cheap pos to its rightful owner and stop avoiding him
