After doing several Briggs engine refurbs I have just noticed the different decals on the starters. So can you chaps give some advice on what the difference is between the "Magnatron" & the "Easy Spin" starter for the early Briggs. (If any). Thx.
That is a vertical pull starter on a post-1982 engine. Magnetron electronic ignition was introduced in 1982, and Briggs then began to proudly display this fact on decals. Older engines with breaker point ignition had Easy Spin decals - Easy Spin is a much older Briggs technology, their patented no-cost decompressor which held the inlet valve slightly open throughout the compression stroke. There may have been stickers on some types of later engines that referred to both Magnetron and Easy Spin - I don't know.
Since this thread is about decals, I will move it to the Paint and Decals forum.
