Here is something that has been infuriating me recently.. No Company sells a proper "Utility" Style Side discharge (Side throw) Mower over here.. No one.

Here is John Deere's best stab at it..
[Linked Image from deere.com]

Honda makes something also.. but it's about the same..

I can't get Masport Ute mowers here (Ironically the only machines mowersdirect.com doesn't have)

Why is making something like this so hard for companies...

Anyway, That's my raving..

EDIT: What I was trying to get across didn't really get across.. No one makes something simple.. It's all so unbelievably complex and as such.. breaks in about a week..

what about this one?

The Victa Mastercut 460 is a compact, dependable mower, ideal for rough terrain or tight spaces where grass needs to be tamed. This lightweight machine features a sturdy steel pressed deck with durable side discharge chute and 8" dual ball bearing wheels with a choice of three engines (Victa 2 stroke commercial VE40, 158CC Briggs and Stratton 500 series 4 stroke, Honda GCV160 four stroke)

Fantastic NewLife!

But I can't Buy it here.. Victa doesn't sell here.. They never have.. Our government has banned them because they "Aren't Safe enough" Due to them not having a billion safety bars, leavers and switches..

They make small side throw mowers here.. But they are far from utility.. They sell them at the garden centres for about $80-$150 each and they are meant to last about a season..

Victa did make some for export with bail bars, to be quite honest (dont take offence here) I rarely bother buying or fixing american machines when they come up here due to dead mans handles and the fact they arent really built well enough for our conditions.

I had an mtd base like that, I think I gave it to somone in the end as I didnt like how the wheels had to be removed to adjust the height. I like a mower that has a handle for adjusting the height and just a throttle to control the engine.

Here are some victa PRO 550 self propelled mowers in the UK, handles everywhere!

My pro550 has a throttle and a little lever to engage drive (though it doent drive as the transmission is shot.)

No Offense taken Joe, at least half the mowers I find I just pop the engine and chuck the base.. A lot of times, The bases are so cheep they just aren't worth fixing

Yeah, Victa did make a few.. But they were mostly bought by turf contractors and driven until the wheels fall off..

Those little MTD's aren't really that bad.. but the height is a pain.. And they are very flimsy..

How about this MTD Utility?
It has independent adjustment on all wheels.

I picked one of these up a while ago with a front wheel axle broken from the base.
Just have to weld a patch and re-drill the holes.

Other than that, it looks like a nice mower, 20" cut as well.
This one might be a keeper.

Those are dime a Dozen over here... or some variation of them.. usually find about 10 of them a year being chucked out..

They aren't bad.. but they rust out easily.. and the engines are really cheep..
