I am looking for a Scott Bonnar model 33 or Bonmow with a Villiers engine. I need the mower to promote my children's stories, Mervin the Magic Mower, and would prefer one that needs to be done up & with a catcher if there are any out there. Can any one help me locate one?

Hi again Mervin, the Scott Bonnar Bonmow and the 16" Model 33 are 2 different mowers entirely.

Introduced in 1953, the 14" Bonmow petrol mower was finished in cobalt blue baked enamel and fitted with a Villiers 2G 70cc 2-Stroke. Later the fan-cooled 3g Villiers was fitted.

The Scott Bonnar 16" model 33 was first introduced in 1960 and had a Villiers 98cc Mark 3 Midget 2-Stroke engine...
Later it had a Kirby-Tecumseh HK25 2.5HP 4 Stroke engine fitted and green in colour.

There was a beautiful Bonmow on ebay in Brisbane recently. Probably priced a little high, but hard to find such a nice example.

I have obviously been given conflicting information. I will post a photo of the type of SB mower I am looking for. It is green in colour as can be seen from the photo and the handles come straight up from the sides of the mower.

Thanks rolla16v. My SB had the handles coming straight up from the sides, not meeting in the middle. I think I have been told the wrong model number.

The model you are chasing is Scott Bonnar 16" Model 33 with the 98cc. Mark 3 Midget, 2 Stroke Villiers engine.

This machine was first produced at the Scott Bonnar Thebarton factory in 1960 and was said to be a "robust" machine, manufactured for the domestic market.

These machines are fairly rare these days but occasionally you will see them pop up for sale on eBay.
