Hi John, welcome to Outdoorking. I used to have one of those old Partners - I no longer recall whether it was an R14 or R16, but it was my all time favourite saw. Easy to start, cold or warm, and once started, it just stacked the chips around your ankles until it ran out of fuel, with no hassles or drama. To fit an electronic ignition module to a breaker-point engine is usually only a straightforward exercise if that particular engine remained in production and was produced in electronic ignition form. I don't think that will be the case here. When Electrolux bought Partner at the end of the 1970s they treated it as a brand rather than a product. I think some of the original Partner products may have been continued for a while under their then-new Poulan Pro brand. Of course you could go through a hand-making process and modify your saw to fit a generic electronic module to it. I can't even guess whether that would be difficult or easy. At the moment, I do not understand why you would want to do this anyway: you have a nice old saw, and I know the ignition system never gave any trouble on mine.
