Hello ODK members,

One of the oldest pieces of newsprint I have depicts a photograph of a petrol-powered mower from 1904.
The page from the British The Graphic depicts a large Ransomes machine.

The photograph depicts a Ransomes mower a at the Gunnery School at Whale Island, Portsmouth, England.
The photograph was reproduced in Australia in an article titled "The Industrial Uses of the Petrol Mower" in
Australian Town & Country Journal, 19 April, 1905 [attached].

It really is an amazing photograph. Note the elaborate catcher emptying system and the radiator for the water cooled engine.

These military establishments don't change much.
I think the mower was located at about 'X' in the photo, with the camera facing the direction of the arrow.
