Hi there
I have a MASPORT 3000ST with a B&S 10G902-0272-B1 engine
CODE 06081854.

The starter ratchet is stuffed.

It's made of 5 parts.
1) spring (OK)
2) Briggs & Stratton Pulley/Spring Assy - 499901 (broken)
3) Briggs & Stratton Starter Pawl-Ratchet Set - 281505S (broken)
4) Briggs & Stratton Plate-Pawl Friction - 692299 (broken)
5) rope (OK).

Those descriptions off a US site.
Can anyone help me with the links to ordering the 2-->4? I've searched on the site without a lot of luck.

The whole lot screws into a metal cowling which is in OK condition. [Linked Image from lh5.googleusercontent.com]

Here is the Illustrated Parts List for your engine, in case you want to have direct access to it:
http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/18mrxLXCnfBhU7y.pdf
By referring to that IPL I found the same part numbers for the required items as you did.

The Outdoorking on-line store lists one of the three parts (499901), or you can get it on ebay:

The other three parts are not listed at the online store. You could contact the store and ask them to get them for you, or you could get a kit containing all of the remaining parts (2x281505S pawls, 1x691855 circlip, and 1x692299 pawl friction plate) on ebay:

Thank you Grumpy! You're more knowledgeable about this site obviously than my fumbly search fingers.

The cowling itself looks damaged where it bolts to the engine, it would in a means be cheaper and easier to put on a whole second hand cowling from another engine. (Write your model tyope and code numbers down for later use) if you go down this path.

Hi alwayscurious,

I agree with Joe. If you're ever up on the sunny coast, I can give you an entire cowling with the starter setup in place. They're not too expensive to buy new either.

Cheers, Michael
