Hi, the mower now starts first pull and works well, but only when the fuel tap side, is facing downhill. (I mow across a slight fall in the lawn.)
When I reverse direction and the fuel tap is now on the uphill side, the fuel seems to stop flowing and engine cuts out.
If I reverse the mower direction quickly, before it cuts out, it will fire up again and continue on perfectly (fuel tap side now downhill again).
The tank is full so that the fuel intake line is well covered with fuel. I have replaced the float & jet but not needle (could be sticking?).
Ideas appreciated.

Has it got a genune victa primer cap and float installed? I have never had a aftermarket one work succsessfully. It could also be worth blowing a little air in up the fuel line with the fuel tap on to temorarily see if the fileter is blocking up, although I doubt that is causing the issue.

Thanks. The primer is original. I'll put the original float back, check/clean the fuel line & see what happens.

Make sure the cap is indeed level, and check the fit of the needle to the seat, this is a bit of an odd one, but the float itself could be an issue, if it is not sitting right, it may be jamming at certain angles, either due to a non-level cap, or, because one of it's hooks is not in the right place, causing it to move sideways.

Cheers
Ty

The fuel line should routed across the top of the cap not underneath
