I sent the seller a message which I think has been ignored. What that is is a Model 8 base with a Sheerline cowl,or possibly Sheerline engine.Without the engine number I don't know what the engine is off.He says it's a mark 3 utility there is no such thing. The first utility that was called a utility was the model 12.What that bit is about that 'I've been collecting for 15 years' has to do with it I have no idea.I think that is to try and install confidence into the mind of somebody who would be silly enough to part with $225 for a bitsa.Sorry but I just hate people who try to rip other people off with sales speeches with incorrect information.
Here for a good time, not a long time.

i couldn't believe the sales pitch either, looks to be a sheeline engine unless someone has turned a cylinder upside down.

Be careful with this one Guys. Yes It may well be a sheerline 6 on a model 8 base,as it seems to be a Sheerline head in the Images. My assumption is the same as All of yours. The STD did come with the sheerline style cowl setup and ran in and around the same time as the Sheerlines, but it ran the 8A engine on the model 8 Chassis. Anyways this having what seems to be a sheerline head and possibly engine would definately make it incorrect. Close But,Not quite Sir! Having said he has never seen one before kind of makes sense...I have never seen a STD either in real life. But he has his models mixed up as well as the terminology...MK3? No such thing!:) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/08/full-5599-12368-standard.jpg)

No spanner Tomo...Everyones assumptions were correct anyway. I was merely pointing out that sometimes we dismiss things to quickly when they dont look right. I knew that the model in the Image existed so I wanted to see for myself,Ive just never seen a real example. Model 1 2 and 2a were Rotomos. Model 3 8 and the One in the Image are STDs. And As blumbly says The Term Utility" was first used on the Model 12 and continued on.
This mower tomo was 61/62 at the end of the sheerline run and followed directly after the Model 8 STD. The model 8 in your books will be correct,The one in the Image follows the model 8.... So its effectively a model 8 in every way,its just running the sheeline cowl. Same 8A Engine and same model 8 chassis.
Anyways As I said the ebay mower is close but seemingly incorrect as it has a sheerline head at the very least.
I now however would like this model STD in my collection. I like it!.lols.

Nooooo Way Nathan! But you may buy it for me! Evil grin* It would be easy enough to replicate one I guess...just change the cowl/starter assy only, onto a correct model 8. But the engine no would be inaccurate...Not me! lols. As for the v code Tomo...Its not in my books either. V9 STD,V10 4 stroke V11 Utility. Its an odd one alright...The date code suggests it ran side by side with the V10. I really have no idea...It almost seems like it should be called a 9A since it has the same Engine and chassis...But ive never heard of this term before. Oh well another baffling Mystery for someone to solve...lols.

The Missing Model? lols. Sorry about the Image. This is Oct 61 and according to this ad there were four models going at once. The Model 8 STD The one in question, actually says Utility. The sheerline And the Four Star. I do find it odd they are running to Utility styles...Id say this would be the cross over/intersection of both models. Hope this ads some more info to your Arsenal guys. Anyways blow the image up and you can see it clear enough. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/08/full-5599-12382-article105900486_3_001.jpg) Note the reference to the Victa Museum, and also the Dept store Display...Ill try and get a clearer image when Ive got time.

Good..Thats one to many...Give me one, dont be so greedy! lols. Does yours have the fuel bowl shown in the diagram gizmo? The first one is a beauty...one discrepency though, they are both running model 3/8 chassis. The diagram shows a FULL length axle mount as per the model 12...This may explain the term Utility for this model,so id say the one in the diagram is even later that your pair .....Bloody Victa! lols they confuse everything! Great pair Gizmo!

as far as the fuel bowl goes ,i would saythat it was an artists impression only. and the top pic was my pops mower. he purchased it from new so i am pretty sure its a model 14. it looks to be the exact same model thats for sale on ebay.

All I seem to find is good mowers to do up and sell on. I don't seem to have any luck finding the old classics at a decent price ! Especially for nothing.
It looks great. Can't wait to see the photos of it tidied up.
