Have you replaced the air filter?

When you rebuilt the carb did you make sure the springs are in their correct place?

Has the throttle cable jumped out of the throttle slide?

oliffers,

Did you check the following.

1. Place hose on the governor cap and suck on it to see if it hold pressure (place tongue on hose end). If not the diaphragm might not be sitting properly or the cap has a crack.

2. Governor hole on cylinder block has dirt in the hole or in the incorrect position.

Check those couple of things and see how you go. cheers2

Yes 1 checked suction on govoner cap and it held suction ( tongue not happy with the tast)
2 disconnected hose from cab and blew back through the governor hole to block all clear
Not sure which way the pickup vacume hole should be placed but it hasnt been touched from factory so assuming its correct.

Still stuck with why it wont rev ... and its getting harder to start..

oliffers,

Is this engine a power Torque or full crank engine?

It seems that you could have a leaking bottom seal because of the hard to start when cold issue.

We need more information including pictures in order to help more please. cheers2

Was the large spring installed under the back cover and the small one under the diaphragm?

Yes large spring installed just under the cap and small spring under the diaphram .. both springs look brand new .. no unsusal bends.. also the valve "c" aligned and the cams move well via throtle cable. Checked diaphram suction will hold vacume.
will take off the throttle body - [where carb connects to engine block to check for blockages.]
Now thinking its an electrical issue (electronic ignition )
have also tried without muffler connected - made no difference so no restriction there.
also run in my garage breifly without air filter new spark plug no muffler .. STILL WONT REV ..
will try to upload pictures over the weekend.
The engine is i think a power torque..Common commando v35 lawnmower that had key start (orange cowling) but battery and key start cabeling removed long time ago before wont rev issue.
Almost ready to bin this thing..
Cheers

Hello Oliver,

Have you check the bottom crankcase bearing seal? If it is a powertorque motor you will need to remove the engine from the frame and carefully lever the flywheel off the crankshaft without breaking it. The bearing is well protected by the flywheel however I have seen the seals pop out from the actual sealed bearing.

I havent encountered a failed ignition module that gives your symptons. The ones I have found to be stuffed wont run at all.
Others might have some suggestions.

Dont give up on it! They are a good engine!

Hi Again
Removing flywheel easier said than done. There is a big round bush 1st to remove with a hole on its side, and for the life of me i cannot budge it.. its thread is rusted solid. I need to remove this bush to get the flywheel off. Currently the motor is out and i have the bush end sitting in a small cup of crc lubricant hoping it will help loosen but it tell ya its solid.
Have Also removed the top starter cord assembly found top o ring had blow by .. renewed replaced and reassembled.. also removed head waiting on new gasket ..bore looks smooth.. so all good there...So mission is still to remove lower bush.. wish it was a nut not a bush... nothing to grip on ..any idears on getting this off???

know nothing
there is a thread on removing somewhere on here , maybe deejay can point you too it . but for me an anvil or a solid piece of steel (bigger hammer ) and a good sharp blow on one side should shock it free . they are a taper fit
