Ok so the plaiting work has returned and I am absolutely wrapped for $110, they have done such a great job. The blade holder was more as it's chrome and they look better in the flesh.

I have started putting her back together wheels and bearing bit.

More photos to come soon
Cheers mick

Hi all

I've been busy with kids but have done a little bit.

You guys are making me more and more anal with this project, the more I read the better I want the build. Lucky I don't need to edge my lawn.

So although I said I wasn't going to touch the engine I decided I should paint the barrel and the only way to do it properly was to take it off. Now I need a new head gasket and I may as well get a new muffler.

The bore looks like it hasn't been used thought?

The last photo is a plug that goes in the bottom of the handles that I broke getting it out. Does anyone know where to get two new ones?

Cheers
Mick

I have the one on the right,(family photo on page 2) it came before the series 80 i think. What is it called and is it a full crank engine ?

Hi all here are a few more pictures of the tac project

I've got the engine no as well for anyone that can tell me the model and year?

I should be finished soon

Sgaws, the tac is I the last of the full crank 80 series I think but not sure, side crank starter type, maybe upload your engine no and some pictures and someone might be able to nail the year and model

Cheers

Mick

Ok I'm done gents,

It took ages to get the controls painted correctly but I got there and I'm very happy with the end result.

It was in such good nic I didn't replace the primer or the spark plug even though it had been sitting for 18 or so years and it runs so sweetly second pull start.

For the purists I scalped the lawn with my cylinder mower, I didn't get a chance to mow the lawn with kids etc so it was a bit long.

I might paint the wheels to get them brighter but see how we go.

The stickers came out really well also , I'll always get them redone.

Cheers

Mick

Hi Mick,
And my congrats on a awesome restoration. It looks better that a new machine, with your attention to detail. grin
Just one suggestion, you may consider fitting the circular blade at some stage...like this one, [Linked Image] they give a far superior cut than the straight blade, last longer and even pull your machine along. I have used one like this on my Tilta and find it really works well. wink
