I picked this up at the tip , something different to play with. I have had a fair bit of trouble getting it going only to be my own fault and i'd bet this has happened to a few. I was told it had no spark so when I got home tested it with a good spark plug and it was all good . Then cleaned all the parts including carby and this is when I got caught out. Upon reassembly I followed the course of the fuel lines as it was before. Big mistake and it's a wonder I havn't been caught before. As I learnt the hard way after several carby cleans and countless pulls of the starter cord . So I had to look for another problem . As it turns out I had been priming the fuel into the carby with the remote primer instead I should have been drawing the fuel through the carby. Change the fuel lines around to suit and bingo the chainsaw started and ran beautifully after a few minor fuel mixture screw adjustments. So I thought this would be helpfull to other members sometimes it's so simple you just can't see it. A bit of a grubby mess especially the carby but it came up looking and running good.just a few pics hope this helps someone.

What kind of carburetor is that Rob? It looks quite a bit like a Walbro WT, but I'm not at all sure about it. The interior of the metering chamber looks like it, and that WT391 stamped on it could be a clue too.

I wish that picture of the metering chamber had been taken from a few inches further away, so I could try to figure out what that green stuff is.

And I can't imagine what a decent-looking Poulan saw was doing in a tip shop.

Hope this is bit better and it looks like fuel oil gone bad from sitting a long time. This reminds me of when given any longer to dry out would be called corrosion but I don't know. Yes it is a walbro 208 WT 391 mexico . I tried selecting bbc but my computor won't let me .

More of the blue crud in the first photo but dried out unlike in the carby where it was like jelly , it's right where the carby has been taken off. Sorry about photos .

I can usually avoid that focus problem just by setting the phone camera on macro, and backing it away from the subject until it comes into focus on the viewing screen. Then I crop the image to get it to the correct size. Doesn't take long, and I can rotate it or whatever, while I'm cropping it.

Looks like it was scrapped because the previous tenant interchanged the primer hoses and then couldn't start it, and maybe also because after not running for a while it was all crudded up internally, and the previous tenant didn't know how to clean it. I think you've done well there - it should be a decent little saw.
