Pretty much all of the stuff I have asked about here gets a good run to test its reliability, being an item I have fixed and then sell after Im happy it's sorted, is given to me by a mate to fix for them or I have decided to put on the shelf because I like the thing.

I have a old friend who is too old to maintain his property so I go there once and a while and test equipment and keep the place tidy for them. I managed to round up a mate and some stuff I have tinkered with and given the place a good tidy up. This place was very overgrown 6 months ago. It was getting to the point you could barely walk around anymore due to the lantana and everything else just getting far too overgrown.

The Cox is mine and so too the Stihl. The rest is stuff I have worked on and gotten advice for from here. It all runs very well and did an admiral job. The two ride ons and the slasher were cutting lantana and growth well above 6 feet high. It was amazing to see actually. The fellow on the neigbouring property got out his Cub Cadet with its twin bar blades and was really having a tough time of grass 1 foot high. Their performance difference was amazing. Although maintaining a manicured lawn would be a more comfortable chore on the Cub.

Just some pics of what we did. A hard day, around 11 hours all up but at the end we had a nice fire and a cuppa while we listened to the wildlife. Nice spot.

This particular spot was easily over bonnet height on the Cox 6 months ago. 3 times through now has transformed it.

If you look at the growth beyond the mow line on the hill you can see 7 foot plus lantana. It goes for another couple of hundred meters. Thats going to be a job for a tractor and slasher.

Aldot,

Send me a PM with your address and I will send you a blade (new one) for the trimmer which will make short work of the lantana and just about anything else. We use the same blade on 12 acre property and they are still in reasonable condition even after cutting lantana and blackberry.

It is good to see other people helping the elderly these days, not many people do that anymore. A big congrats to you for helping them out. cheers2

Regards,

That property looks like a nice place to work Aldo, and if you didn't have to work, a nice place to relax. Very scenic.

I wouldn't have dared put the fire under a gum tree like that, but I always was chicken-hearted about fires I suppose. Thanks for the beautiful pictures, you've improved my day.

Thanks for the comments fellas. Bruce it's not a big deal really, I quite enjoy it. Really appreciate your generous offer. I have told Grumpy before that I am on a suburban block and as much as I love tinkering I am considerate of my neighbours having to put up with screaming chainsaws etc so this place is one of the spots I use to test and tune stuff.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures. Next time I head up I will take some pictures of the trees that need to be felled. They are only pine but some are a good size.

Like I said its more of a thanks for the help I have received here to get this gear running.

The gear by the way is a Greenfield Tractor 11 refitted with a Briggs 11.5, A Cox refitted with a Briggs 12.5, A Greenfield slasher 8HP, a Stihl FS200 and a Shindaiwa B450.

Bruce amongst what has been the worst possible news, I received your parcel today and it bought a much needed smile to my face. Thank you.

On Australia Day this year my dad fell ill to a terrible cancer. His prognosis is very poor but he is battling on. My dad has been a hard worker and alway been fit as he has been a manual worker all his life. My dad arrived here from Italy many years ago and worked hard in a country he said gives you a chance in life if you work hard. Due to his lack of a proper education I handled all his liasing with surgeons and his health care fund. 12 weeks of working then being with my dad during the evening in hospital was hard yakka. Translating messages to my dad and telling him he had cancer and things were grim was really hard

5 weeks ago my father in law fell ill with lung cancer. He has a tough road ahead.

Two days ago on Wednesday afternoon while picking up my children from school I received a phone call that dropped me. My wife rang to say she has cancer. I am still numb. So far this year the world is unfair.

If someone has any good outcome stories of women who have lived well beyond breast cancer diagnosis I am all ears. My wife is 43.

That is certainly an appalling run of misfortune, Aldo. I just can't imagine being in such an awful position. My thoughts and best wishes are with you and your family, of course, but I'm well aware that will not help. Let's just hope that most of the time, the very worst does not happen at the end, even after such a terrible beginning.

Thanks Grumpy and those through private messages. Days are ok but nights are not good. Your mind has nowhere to run.

We have received what has been excellent news. The tumour was small, had not spread, was not aggressive, low grade, completely removed and may not require any further treatment. A talk with an oncology specialist this week will hopefully confirm that. I'm absolutely over the moon. The relief is unbelievable.

That is excellent Aldo, and it is especially encouraging to hear that people who deserve good news at least sometimes get it.

I hope your other family members get some better news too.

I just thought I would say that while you are never out of the woods with cancer, my wife had her major full body scan for any spread and received the all clear this week with a very positive outlook from her doctors. I am extremely relieved to say the least.

Bruce for the first time since August I got back up there to do some major clearing and put the blade to use on the brushcutter. At the entrance of the property I finally found 5 foot grass that was so thick it slowed the Greenfield considerably. First time the mighty Tractor 11 was a little bothered. I switched to the blade and the B450. It simply tore through a strip of growth 60 meters long by 2 meters wide in no time with no strain on the Shindaiwa at all. Great product! Thank you.
