Did some more in the ultrasonic cleaner today so I could show you all the results.
This is a 265 Hemi starter nose cone, no precleaning or soaking.
This is how it looked with 40+ years of grime.

In they went for 20mins at 55 celcius (the solvent has already done 2hrs work, dirty work, I want to know when it needs changing).
The dirty bit I left out of the water so there is a bit of a comparison.

So they came out fairly clean, but I thought, not clean enough. In for another 20mins.
This is the end result.

All up, very happy with the results, the things pretty much spotless, and after rinsing off straight away under hot water, it flash dries. All good.

Very impressive results, so I presume the longer you are prepaired to spend on them the better and better they will get? Thanks for posting your results and have made me real keen to get myself one. cheers2

The chinese machines only have a duty cycle of 1hr, that's why I only put in for 20mins at a time with a 10 min brake in between. I suppose put in for the whole hour it would be even better. Cleaner fluid would work even quicker. It was like mud before I started this piece.

Well Rusty.ute, I just bought one off ebay, same size as yours 13L, so now just sit back and wait for it to turn up. smile

Nice work jonesy. you will not be disappointed. A prewash soak in diesel also cuts cleaning time in half.

Hey Rusty, I have a parts washer that I run kero in so I will be cleaning up a bit before putting in here, should make the solution last longer too, I've got some chemtech degreaser concentrate that I'm going to try in it, if that's no good will try truck wash, don't know if either will work but might as well try what I've got before buying anything new.

Let me know if you have any issues with solvents, i've got the names of some stuff that works great. Chemtech should be OK though. Did some carbs today, here's a pic of a G3 after cleaning and reassembly.

I like they way it does not hurt plastic or even old gaskets (good if you need to reuse)
